Jan. 5, 2012 - Be A Brainy Bombshell © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
Happy New Year! My desire for you is for you to be a brainy bombshell for Christ during 2012! Women over fifty who are filled with the Holy Spirit are simply ageless! They are fearless, fun, females who love to live and live to love! Godly women believe they are God’s masterpiece, beautifully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14) Women who understand this verse and know they are one of a kind, are empowered to become brainy bombshells for Christ.
On my radio show www.agingoutsidethebox.net, I interviewed Marilyn Hickey. With her husband, Wallace, they are the founding pastors of Orchard Road Christian Center in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Marilyn is also the founder and president of Marilyn Hickey Ministries. Her Bible teaching ministry is an international outreach via television, satellite, books, CDs, DVDs, and healing meetings, and she has also established an international program of Bible and food distribution. This beautiful ageless woman wrote a new book, YOUR PATHWAY TO MIRACLES. Her brilliant smile lights up her face to shine God’s glory. She inspires me to become a brainy bombshell for Christ.
God made women beautiful to attract a mate to procreate the earth. God’s brainy bombshells work hard to be attractive. Most women love and have a closet full of shoes. Christ’s brainy bombshell, Shannon Perry is a gorgeous National recording artist, speaker, songwriter and brings hope and healing to all women in her series, “IF THE SHOE FITS.” I interviewed Shannon at the 2011, International Christian Retain Show celebrated at the Georgia Dome, Atlanta Georgia. She portrayed a beautiful diamond sending out sparking, colorful rays of light.
Psalms 82:6 “I have said, Ye are Gods, and all of you are children of the most High.” John 10:34 The Jews were stoning Jesus because He said, “I and my Father are one.”
And Jesus said, “Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are Gods!”
Wow! If we are Gods, and are beautifully and wonderfully made by God, we are God’s brainy bombshells. It pleases our maker, if we are proud of who we are. We have our own DNA; so be inspired to make the most of your life!

Jan. 12, 2012 - Passion, Joy, Sass © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
What is your passion? A great passion for 2012 is to glorify God from your heart, with your life, and your praises.
Beginning the New Year, 2012 is a perfect time to meditate on the four-fold reasons to glorify our heavenly father as described in 1st Peter 2:9. King James Version. “But you are a chosen generation a royal priesthood and holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
How can we praise God? (1) with musical instruments: Psalm 33:2, “Praise the Lord with harp; sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.” (2) with good works: Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (3) with fruit bearing: John 15:8, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit: so shall ye be my disciples.” (4) with spiritual unity: Romans 15:16, “That I may be a minister of Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.” (5) with entire consecration: I Corinthians 6:20 “For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
This winter, when the flurries of sparkling white snow begins to swirl, feel the joy! Enjoy the moonlight shimmering on new fallen snow. Pour yourself a fresh cup of Russian Tea.
Boil 4 cups water, 2 cups sugar, box cinnamon sticks (boil 5-8 minutes and cool) Mix in gallon container 3 pints of sweet tea, then add cinnamon mixture. Mix 3 cups orange juice, and I cup lemon juice, with I small can pineapple juice. Add to tea and juice mixture.
Be Sassy with your fabulous, functional winter wardrobe. How wonderful that winter scarves are fashionable the winter of 2012. Don’t forget those stylish boots to set off your warm coat.
Winter of 2012 is a great time for gracious living, by creating a warm, cheerful atmosphere in your home as the aroma of delicious food float in the air, your invited friends and family join you to celebrate the season. A great time to enjoy indoor games.
Being an author, I encourage you to spend some of your time indoors reading great books. The greatest book on earth is God’s love letter to you THE BIBLE; however you may desire to order my book (Fabulous After 50~Finding Fulfillment for Tomorrow) from my website www.fabulousafter50.com.

Jan. 19, 2012 - Golden Globes 2012 © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
Did you watch the Golden Globes on television January 15? I am mesmerized by the parade of stars, dressed to the nines and happy about being nominated for the prestigious Golden Globe awards. The winners are always jubilant!
These people have taken the talents God has given them to entertain, and have honed them into spectacular performances. As I am motivated, encouraged, entertained and in awe of their accomplishment, I am lifted to a higher mentality. These stars are motivated to prepare months for this one appearance at the Golden Globe Awards. They begin a health care regiment, proper food, exercise and positive attitude early. As the Awards banquet draws near the biggest thrill is deciding on that perfect dress, shoes, jewelry and hairstyle. I am inspired by the pristine appearances of the stars.
Many of the movies that won Golden Globe Awards I have added to my must see movie list. Meryl Streep won best drama actress for THE IRON LADY, the life of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the longest serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the twentieth century. I lived through her reign and kept a close watch on her time in office through the press. I’m looking forward to viewing the Movie. I also enjoy baseball. Brad Pit mentioned he chose Money ball, a movie about baseball, because it was a positive movie about second chances. He shared that the value from this movie is “Just because we have a failure doesn’t mean we are a failure.”
In this pool of talent, we discovered that the best original song was called “masterpiece.” While winning awards in this world is spectacular, they do not compare to our crowns in heaven.
The Incorruptible Crown, I Corinthians 9:25 “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”
The Crown of Righteousness, 2 Timothy 4:8 “Therefore there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them that love His appearing.”
The Crown of Life, James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
The Crown of Glory, 1 Peter 5:4, “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Crowns to be guarded, Rev. 3, 11, “Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Cast Crowns at Jesus feet, Revelations 4:10 “the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat upon the throne, and worship him, and cast their crowns before the throne.

Feb. 16, 2012 - DIVA~Whitney Houston © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
The Divine, Inspired, Vivacious, Anointed, little girl that enthusiastically sang in the choir at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark New Jersey, grew up to be the DIVA Whitney Huston that stared in the film, SPARKLE, produced by Rev. T.D. Jakes.
As a child, she and her Godmother, Aretha Franklin, sang in the church choir, and had great fun becoming stars in the music entertainment scene. The many times I’ve listened to Whitney Huston’s music and watched her movies, she inspires me with her enthusiasm, and melodious voice. Today she has joined the magnificent choir in heaven where her stardom will be enhanced. Her friend Chaka Khan will sing at her memorial service at New Hope Baptist Church, New Jersey.
Being the brilliant star of the greatest magnitude, the elegant Whitney Huston with her incredible voice pushed Dolly Pardon’s song “I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU,” to #1 on the digital songs chart today. Singing this song in the romantic movie, BODY GUARD, is my favorite!
Whitney Huston’s charisma is printed indelibly on every person’s mind that has ever heard her sing or enjoyed her performances in movies and on stage. She will always be an encouragement in our hearts when life gets tough. Her enthusiasm (God Within) will always be with us. I like Henry Ford’s take on the word enthusiasm. “You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars. Enthusiasm is the spark in your eye, the swing in you gate, the grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of your will, and your energy to execute your ideas. Enthusiasts are fighters, they have fortitude, and they have staying qualities. Enthusiasm is at the bottom of progress. With it there is accomplishment, with out it, there are only alibis!”
Let us take Whitney’s mantle of enthusiasm and take our life to a higher level, as she dances on the streets of gold. Let us practice Psalms 90:17 KJV, “And let the beauty of our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us, yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.”
I met Rev. Ora Stearns Smith at a Divine Inspired Vivacious Anointed women’s conference. She shared her book DIVINELY FRAMED with me.
May I share with you her poem DIVINELY FRAMED?
I am that I am says I am, I am that I am By the blood of the lamb! I am that I am say I am! I’m made in God’s image And after His likeness Forever forgiven, royal and righteous! I’m called by His name And washed in His blood Yes, divinely framed by the majesty of love I’m not common or anywhere near it! I’m a holy temple powered by God’s spirit! I’m not from the world I’m born from above! Yes, divinely framed by the majesty of love! I’m from the mind of omniscience! The head of the omnipotence! And the heart of the master potter! I’m heaven’s design! God’s one of a kind! And I am not like none other! Oh, defining who I am May be your aim! But who I am is a Divinely Framed Woman of God!

Mar. 1, 2012 - March Is Spring’s Awakening © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
Growing up on a cotton farm in Alabama, I loved the month of March, as every growing plant begin to turn green. There is a fresh fragrance in the air as the March wind blows pollen from the spring flowers. The daffodil is the flower for March. The name of March comes from ancient Rome, when March was the first month of the year and named Martius after Mars of Ares, the Greek god of war.
Getting into my car this morning to drive to the post office to send one of my twelve grandchildren, Stephanie, a card and gift for her twenty-first birthday, the singing birds made fabulous music like a full orchestra. As a bright beam of sunlight sparkled across my sun glasses, I sniffed the air and said, “Spring is awakening!”
There is a spirit during the Spring season that pulls on my heart strings and sings joy! I begin to sing, “the joy of heaven is gladly swelling within my heart a melody is born.” It seems as the sap in the trees rise, so does my spirit of living large!
Bright new ideas pop into my head. A new motivation, to do great things, arrives with Spring. Have you noticed you feel inspired to update your look? I’m already thinking about looking bronze, wearing pink sunglasses, plumping my lips for more space for bright pink lipstick.
Hey, remember the strong March wind. A messy hair style is almost a requirement for this month. The March wind changes your hair style as you walk. Kahlil Gibran said, “Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”
Thinking about my schedule for the month of March, I’ll be wearing my white sequined vest decorated with green shamrocks when I speak to my “lit chick” group! I’ll end my speech with a St. Patrick blessing.
May your world shine Like sunlight on shamrocks. May your heart ring With laughter and song, May your smile sparkle bright Through the day and the night, May your life be a joy All year long. (copied – unknown author)
Walk with me through the green door into the Month of March, with wild anticipation, passion for the new spring season, and love!

Mar. 8, 2012 - 2012 International Women’s Day © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
The UN theme for International Women’s Day 2012 is EMPOWER WOMEN, end hunger and poverty. Today many women’s groups are held around the world. Respect, appreciation and love for women will be celebrated globally.
The human rights and political authority of women as designated by the United Nations will be declared around the world. Social awareness of women’s struggles will be brought to the forefront to shed light on possible solutions. The accomplishments of women will be honored in many places on this day.
If you haven’t already you may send a free International Women’s Day e-card to your family, friends or women who have made a difference in your life. Also it’s a great time to honor women who have made a difference in the fight against poverty and hunger with Oxfam’s International Women’s Day award.
The International Women’s day was first observed February 28, 1909 in the United States. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton launched the “100 Women Initiative: Empowering women and girls through international exchange, on the eve of International Women’s Day 2011. All over the world women will be encouraging women, as did U.S. Army officer Lt. Col Pam Moody shared with a group of Afghan Women on International Women’s Day 2011. The Russian and Italian women include the flower Mimosa (The Silver Wattle) in the International Women’s Day celebration.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) called on States and other groups to keep up efforts to prevent sexual violence that harm the dignity and lives of women around the world.
Today I’m thrilled to be launching a new book “WOMEN WILL SAVE THE WORLD” compiled by best selling author Caroline A Shearer. I have written a chapter in the book, along with Jenny Craig, Dr. June Stinchfield, Lorelei Shellist, and more. I will also be interviewing Caroline tonight, March 8, 2012, at 6pm central on my world wide radio show www.agingoutsidethebox.net.
HAPPY 2012 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

Mar. 15, 2012 - Happy Saint Patrick's Day © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
My family’s livelihood has been earned through the years in a family grocery business MITCHELL GROCERY CORP. Many years we enjoyed participating in the National Wholesale Grocery Convention held each year in the windy city of Chicago, Ill! We loved being in Chicago each Saint Patrick’s Day, when the Chicago River was turned green. In 1962 Chicago City Pollution Control workers used dye to trace illegal sewage discharges. The river was so pretty they decided to color the river green every St. Patrick’s Day. Visiting with our grocery friends from across the nation, it was always fun to watch the St. Paddy’s Day Parade, at noon, spotlighting the beautiful young woman who had been elected as Queen of the Parade. Sara Collins has been named Queen of the 2012 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade!
Saint Patrick’s Day is primarily celebrated as a celebration of Irish and Irish American culture. Everyone is Irish on March 17th! It’s a cultural and religious holiday, commemorating Saint Patrick (387-461), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland, and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland.
Who is Saint Patrick, whose death was believed to be March 17, 461 AD? He was born into a wealthy, Romano-British family in Roman Britain. He was kidnapped by Irish raiders at the age of sixteen and became a slave. Saint Patrick was told by God in a dream to flee his captivity and board a ship, returning to Britain. After his encounter with God and his escape from captivity, he joined the Church in Auxerre, Gaul; and studied to be a priest. Saint Patrick was familiar with Christianity since his grandfather and father were deacons in the Christian Church. Saint Patrick endures today as the principal champion of Irish Christianity and is held in high esteem in the Irish Church.
Yes, I will be wearing my sequined white vest with green shamrocks on Saint Patrick day. Irish folklore tells that one of St. Patrick’s teaching methods included using the Shamrock with three leaves, to explain the Christian doctrine of the Trinity to the Irish people. The Trinity being: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
God the Father is the supreme ruler of the universe. John received a vision of God and describes his appearance in Revelations 1: 12-16 NIV BIBLE. “On the Lord’s day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet,… I saw someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down unto his feet, and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace. And His voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars. And coming out of his mouth was a sharp two edged sword. (THE HOLY BIBLE) His face was like the sun shining in all his brilliance.
John 3: 16,17KJV “For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believieth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” “For God sent not His Son (JESUS) into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.”
The Holy Spirit it s person that lives with you. Acts 2: 32-33 NIV “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised HOLY SPIRIT and had poured out what you now see and hear.
The Holy Spirit has emotions. Ephesians 4:30 NIV “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

Apr. 5, 2012 - Holy Week © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
I hope my “Fabulous After Fifty” readers are enjoying Holy Week. This week is all about new birth as we celebrate the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our hearts are being squeezed on Good Friday as we relive His crucifixion; however; rejoicing comes Easter Sunday morning as we participate in the sunrise service to begin our day.
Each spring season, as the earth bursts forth with new life, colorful flowers, green grass, trees and shrubs, our hope is renewed knowing we have new life after death through the resurrection of Jesus. The egg is a huge part of our celebration. Christians believe eggs are the seed of life; therefore, they are symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Back through the years, haven’t we had fun dying hard boiled eggs beautiful colors to hide for children to find during an Easter egg hunt? I have a mental picture of my children and grandchildren, all dressed in their Easter frock, scampering to find the most eggs to win a prize.
35,000 people have been invited to the 134th Easter Egg Roll on the White House lawn, Monday April 9, 2012. The first family will be the host. First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative has included healthy cooking demonstrations and sports, to encourage Americans to be healthier. This years Easter Egg Roll theme is LET’S GO, LET’S PLAY, LET’S MOVE.
1981 President Ronald Reagan and Nancy started the tradition of giving each participant in the White House Easter Egg roll, a keepsake wooden egg with the signature of a famous person.
The White House Keepsake 2012 features First Dog Bo!
Along with the Easter Egg hunt, the White Easter Lily that adorns our homes and churches sends out an aura of beauty and sweet fragrance. It is named after the Anglo-Saxon goddess of Spring, “Eastre.”
We, “Fabulous After Fifty” people are so excited Easter 2012, that Jesus rose from the dead. He is alive! He reigns in the hearts of Christians. He is active in your life, in the life of the church, in the life of the world. He proclaims, “I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.”
Enjoy your Easter Sunday, and Spring 2012.

Apr. 12, 2012 - Power Of Godly Meditation © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
Meditating on God’s word, the Bible, and the Lord, while praying and listening is powerful. We are spirit and we connect with God’s spirit. When we are still and quiet, meditating on God’s word, His law, his Spirit and His stories, He has a chance to speak to us through our mind and spirit.
The Greek word for meditation means to revolve in the mind, considering something over and over again. A good example is a cow chewing her cud. The cow eats her food and swallows it, then brings it back up to chew a second time.
Research has proven that deep sleep is usually between 3 am to 5am. Many saints have recorded dreams from God during this early quiet time. Also prayers have been answered through one’s mind in the wee hours of the morning.
We must be like King David and thirst for God to meditate. David said, ”O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee, in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. “To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.” “Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Psalms 63: 1-3 KJV
The key is to listen to the Spirit speaking to your heart. If you remember Jesus would go up into the mountains alone to pray and listen to God. He is a great example for believers today.
The Psalmist David showed what fierce combat he had, and through meditation obtained victory through the Lord.
Psalm 77: 1,11,12 “I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and He gave ear unto me.” “I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.” “I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.”
If King David found power through meditation, listening, and prayer; how much more should we enrich our lives today with these daily habits?
Many Christian have a quiet time each morning with the Lord, meditating on His word, listening to his still small voice and communicating through prayer. Worldly meditation, just sitting still and quiet, emptying the mind, may calm you; however, there is no power in an empty mind.

Apr. 19, 2012 - From Duty To Delight © by Shirley W. Mitchell, Life Is Precious™ - Fabulous after Fifty™
Are you weary? Do you focus on gaining wealth, recognition or praise for yourself? If you are allowing God to use you, He has a master plan. His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
If you seek to be in the center of God’s will for your life, and stay faithful to God’s calling on your life, He will accomplish eternal blessings through you! To walk in Gods light for your life, you will be blessed with faith, grace (unmerited favor) and God’s mercy. To be walking in the spiritual realm, dulls the luster of worldly success and fame! If God is in the center of your life, expect to operate in His presence, His power, and His purpose.
If you are walking with God today, pay attention to what He puts in your path. Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Stretch yourself for Jesus! Feel that super power inside your being. Think what you will accomplish if you really believe the scripture, “nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37
The best example is the virgin birth Luke 1:27-38 KJV - an angel appeared “to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.” “And the angel came in unto her and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with you; blessed art thou among women.” “And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this could be” “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.” “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS!” “He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of His father David: “And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and His kingdom there shall be no end. “Then said Mary unto the angel, how shall this be, seeing I know not a man? “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee; therefore also that Holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called THE SON OF GOD. “FOR WITH GOD NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE.”
Mary the mother of Jesus had the faith to say, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy work. And the angel departed from her.” Do you have the courage today to believe that nothing is impossible with God? This kind of faith will catapult you from feeling that your life is a duty and will be turned into a delight.
