Debra K. Goodwin, Ph.D., R.D. is an assistant professor of nutrition, a freelance writer, and a community speaker. Dr. Goodwin has taught nutrition at the undergraduate level for 22 years at Jacksonville State University in Alabama and received the Outstanding Teacher Award in 1994. She is director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at her institution and is an active member of the American Dietetic Association. For several years, Dr. Goodwin combined her love of cooking with a quest for health and authored a column titled "Lighten Up" in a local newspaper in which she modified readers' favorite recipes into healthier versions. Dr. Goodwin speaks to community groups on "Eating for Health".
